Frequently asked questions.

Do I need any previous experience to attend my first BJJ class?

No, you don't need any previous experience to attend your first BJJ class. Our classes are designed to be accessible for beginners, and our experienced instructors will work with you to help you learn the fundamentals of BJJ.

What should I wear to my first BJJ class?

We recommend wearing comfortable, athletic clothing that allows for a full range of movement, such as a t-shirt and shorts or leggings. It is essential that your clothing does not have zips or buttons as they can cause injuries to you and your training partner and the mats, and you will not be able to train while wearing them.

Do I need to bring any equipment to my first BJJ class?

No, you don't need to bring any equipment to your first BJJ class. We will provide any essential equipment, such as mats, belts, and training partners.

What can I expect from my first BJJ class?

In your first BJJ class, you can expect to learn the basics of BJJ, including how to perform fundamental techniques and how to interact with different positions. While you won't be expected to spar, you will be expected to interact with your partner in small-sided, specific Jiu-Jitsu games with low variability. This will allow you to become familiar with the grappling environment in a realistic, but safe, less chaotic, and fun way.

How often should I attend BJJ classes?

We recommend attending classes at least twice a week to get the most benefit from your training. However, we understand that everyone's schedule is different, and we offer a range of classes to fit your needs.
